Diary dates and Key Events
Information on key events and dates can be found on the News & Events page on this website, the main noticeboard in the Pre-school and the Pre-School's newsletter.
Harrow Way Pre-school session times are 9.00am to 12.00pm and 12.30pm to 3.30pm.
We accept children into the setting from 2 years 9 months old.
Drop off and Collection
Please could you try to be here by 12.00 noon and 3.30 p.m. Young children find it very unsettling and need a lot of reassurance when parents are not waiting to collect them at the end of the session. We understand that sometimes emergencies arise and can not be foreseen, but please would you ring the Pre-school to let us know as soon as possible.
The Management Committee have recently voted on a ‘late collection fee’ of £1.00 per minute being levied, where without prior agreement by the Pre-school, a child is collected five minutes late, three times in the same term.
If you think you may have an ongoing problem with conflicting timings we are quite happy for you to come in earlier and collect your child.
Where possible could you try not to arrive in The Centre too early though please. Little children get bored waiting in the corridor for long periods and consequently run up and down and in and out of the toilets, which could result in the children having accidents.
Parking is not permitted on school site. Please in the neighbouring local roads outside the main school.
Emergency Evacuation Procedures
Should the fire bell sound whilst you are in the process of collecting or dropping off from the pre-school, could we please request that you do not try to take your child from the premises or ask to leave your child with a member of staff, but ask that you accompany the Group along the main path to the tennis courts.
Calling all new Parents and Carers
Harrow Way Pre-school operate an ‘OPEN DOOR’ policy and parents and carers are always welcome to come along to visit the group. Maybe you have a creative urge, musical talent or have an unusual occupation or hobby you could talk about to the children. Perhaps you may like to read a story, supervise the craft area, help with puzzles and numbers or just have fun in the playground with them? The children are a friendly little bunch and they are always very open to new experiences.
Your input benefits the children as it gives them access to a wider range of adult experiences and cultures and benefits you, our parents and carers, by giving you an insight into the Early Years’ Foundation Stage, which underpins the knowledge, skills, understanding and attitudes that children will be learning throughout their ‘foundation stage’ in order to achieve the ‘Early Learning Goals’ at the end of the reception year.
You are always welcome and it really would be lovely to see you.
Parents Feedback Questionnaires
Parents Feedback forms are available from Harrow Way Pre-school and are available on the Parents noticeboard for use throughout the year. The responses help us to celebrate the areas in which we are doing well and highlight subjects which need improvement.
Please feel free to comment further aside from the questions asked and attach these to the form or post them in the Suggestion Box on the Coffee bar.
Free early learning for three and four year olds.
All three and four year olds are entitled to 15 hours of free nursery education for 38 weeks of the year. This applies until they reach compulsory school age (the term following their fifth birthday). Free nursery education can take place in nurseries, playgroups, preschools or at their childminders. This allowance may be used in full or in part at Harrow Way Pre-school.
Pre-school Poloshirts and Sweatshirts
You have the option to purchase throughout the academic year, our pre-school poloshirts or sweatshirts with the Harrow Way logo embroidered and the choice to have your childs name added.
These can be purchased via the Pre-school. Please ask a member of staff for an order form and price list.
